Domain Auction Questions
Need investor in the next 24 hours to bid on closed auction for a domain name. The auction is at $10,500? I believe I'm in very a advantageous position but my hands are tied. I placed a backorder for a domain and now I'm part of an auction that's way out of my reach. The domain is a misspell of a very, very popular domain, the auction is at $10500 at the moment and it is going to end in 29 hours.(12/10/07 10:30am est). I believe this domain is worth much more than that since I read an article about a misspelled domain being sold for 200k. There are only 5 bidders allowed for this auction including me but I don't have the pockets to keep up. I not even know how this could work but if there's anyone out there interested please let me know.

How are webistes and domain names such a good investment? I have recently spoke wiith my financial advisor about purchasing domain names and building websites. He said since I have some extra capital to use this could be a very exiciting and lucrative venture. There are two domain names up for auction on godaddy that I am interested in one is www.fasttires.com the other is www.findyourdreamgirl.com. Fasttires is already going for $40,000 and findyourdreamgirl.com is listed for $18,995 my advisor thinks this is a good price to move on before it goes up it could be the next match.com. What do you guys know about these sort of investments I want to build my own web business.

Does anyone Know php script for a Domain Name Aftermarket Auction Style Website? I am trying to start a Domain Name Aftermarket Website. Right now, have rmbdomains.com which lists my domains for sale and my web services I provide. I was thinking of allowing others to put their domain names for sale either on this site or starting another site. I need a script or something that will allow possibly user accounts or an automated way allow others to sell domain names- Fill out a form with thier domain name, asking price, email, name, etc. and show up in a listing. Exactly like sedo.com. Can someone help me make a script like sedo or ebay? I currently use Dreamweaver CS3, WAMP Server 2.0, and GoDaddy's top hosting account (if this is any help). I know how to make simple websites, but I am very new at codes and php. I have very little knowledge on this and where to start (php, how a database works, etc.). Would someone Please Help!?
How does transferring a domain work? I bought a domain I wanted at auction at pool.com and it said the information would be in my name in 24 hours. I wanted to transfer the name to my godaddy account, what do I need to do for this to happen?
What is the best method for selling a domain name? The domain names I have aren't that popular so I don't expect high 3-figures. Is selling through a reseller or auction site the best, or can selling it on my own work given the limited value of the domains? Thanks.
Is there a difference between buying and registering domain names? You can go to dozens of sites and register a domain for $5-25/year, but I've seen auctions for $500+ k domains. Is this just a fee for transfering the registration? When you 'buy' a domain, is it yours forever until you sell it? Who exactly are you 'registering' a domain with? I'm sure the for profit companies like GoDaddy aren't regulatory bodies, so when you register it... where does that go? Does anyone here _know_ the answers? Or know where I can find them? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone bought a domain from GoDaddy auctions, or can you explain the process? I want to bid on a domain name that whose auction is ending in a day or so. It is not a high priced domain, or one that is particularly desirable, so this isn't a question about how I should try to win the auction, but I am a bit confused about the process, specifically how much you end up paying in terms of membership fees just to bid, a renewal fee that you seem to have to pay GoDaddy as soon as you win (if you win), and what effect the fact that it is an entended auction has. The site says "Auction will extend an additional 2 minutes after the last bid". Does this mean that people can continue bidding indefinitely, until someone gives up? Thanks in advance for any help.
How do I sell my domain name on Goddaddy? I have an domain name I don't need anymore and want to sell it...but can't figure out how. Is it like an auction system? on the godaddy site I see a lot of places to "buy" an old domain, but I can't figure out how to put mine up for sale!

Registering a domain: if I pay x price, will it ever go up because of bids for the domain? One of my friend's bands was just signed by interscope records, and I am creating his website for him. No one really knows about it yet, as he has not released anything, which is why (I assume) that I can register the band name as a domain for only $3 a year (and I'm willing to pay up to $50 if necessary). But lets jump the gun and say that the group really does make it, and people want to establish a fan website or whatever. Will the people who I bought the domain name from take bids from the other people in which my name will always be up for auction? And if this would be defined in the contract/user agreement, what terms should I look for? Thanks! Thanks; I forgot what website it was, but I was looking at the prices earlier and when I saw that one domain was taken, next to it it said "make bid."
Best Place to Sell Web Domain? In you expert, or educated guess, where is the best place to sell a web domain? ebay? godaddy? other web hosting site? something i don't know of? I'm sure i could sell it (just a domain with no content) on ebay or godaddy, but where do you think it would make the most money? an auction or a fix price? or .... Thanks!
Domain Name Appraisal ? Values of .Com? What is the best place for getting an appraisal for a domain name. Example. YourSeller.Com I put on the auction market and have had 2 different appraisals and they were both very different. I have been selling domains for a while BUT I have been selling without appraisal and without advertising. People visit the domain and they all point to 1 area and there is a link that points to the domains for sale page and they are listed there. So if people are interested they just usually offer and at that point I accept or deny. I have seen SEDO and Domain after market but also looking for a better way to sell.
Selling a domain, several questions? I registered a few domains with godaddy.com a few months ago and never published a website through them. I'd be interested in selling them. What would be an effective way of selling the domain? Godaddy has a bunch of bells and whistles on their "buy and sell" domain page, but they really don't do a good job of explaining things. I understand that I can auction them on eBay, but once the auction is complete, is it fairly simple to transfer the domain? Again, I only have the domain names, nothing else. I've also read that having a domain appraised can increase its selling price in an auction. Would this be true for a domain that has only been parked since registration? Any info is a great help. Thanks.
How do you make immediate cash via the Internet, on a low budget? So far, there is only ONE thing that resulted in sales, and it did not cost me even one penny. That is AFFILIATE MARKETING via FFA search engine submissions. I received checks for three sales generated through Free-For-All web site submissions. How can I intentionally duplicate these results geometrically by about a factor of 10, 100, or 1,000? FYI, I'm a very experienced salesperson, with an excellent web site. It's new, so it's in the Google sandbox. And yes, it only has about 400 links. Therefore, let's not discuss SEO or anything that's related to long-term LINKS or LINKING strategy here. My question is STRICTLY about making IMMEDIATE SALES via the web. (I also own excellent weight loss e-book products and offer online training programs because I am a Certified Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant.) I already did PPC, YSM, expired domain traffic, and eBay auctions. All these fail, cost me cash, with no sale or inquiry, just seller fees to pay these vendors. Help!
Domain name appraisal? I put up www.gta4fans.com for a 90 day auction, starting price 1,000 dollars. The domain name is based off of the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto IV, and it seems like a very popular name once the game comes out and ppl want cheats/strategies/etc. If you're in the domain buying/selling business, could you please give me an appraisal of this domain name, and tell me how much it will probably go for?
Most Expensive Domain Name for Sale? Do you believe dot com still king? I own the most expensive domain name, looking for buyer, I don't want to register domain name sale site or auction. I like to conect directly to buyer or agent. See the example http://therecordbreakingdomain.com/ I want my site similar to that, plus intense SEO marketing to gain exposure. My domain name only contain seven letter... XXXXXXX.com, this name catch everybody's eyes, most of us think about these two words. Let me give you a hint, one word is about 'prosperity''; the other word is about 'time'. Can you guess that? Asnwer me! I am asking for $ 15 million USD, or percentage of ownership. Need your suggestion, where should I contact, how should I start. I am not joking of this posting, thank you for reading.
How do copyright laws work with pictures? We bought photographs of Shoeless Joe Jackson at an auction. Who owns the copyright to these pictures, and is there a way we can transfer it to us? Or are pictures automatically public domain after a certain amount of time?
How long before I can duplicate and profit from a book that might be out of copywrite? I recently came accross a beautiful typography book from the 1920's at an auction. It was suggested that I scan all the pages in and make them available on my website for download. I thought it was a great idea and thought about making either an ebook available for download for a few bucks or making money off of ads on the pages (both to recoup the massive amount of bandwith that would be used.) What are the lagalities when dealing with this sort of matter? When does a book actually go out of copywrite and when it becomes public domain, in what ways are you able to duplicate it and make money?
